A CIVIL WAR CHRISTMAS, written by Pulitzer Prize Winning playwright Paula Vogel, is an uplifting family excursion that reminds its viewers of humanity’s potential for compassion, reconciliation and hope during times of war and division. The historical accuracy, classic Christmas songs and dynamic characters will take the audience on a journey back to the struggle for racial equality. 

World premiere 

A Civil War Christmas had its world premiere at the Long Warf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut on December 3, 2008.  The company members included Jay Russell (The Play What I Wrote), Diane Sutherland (The Light in the Piazza), Marc Damon Johnson (The Brothers Size), Ora Jones (Boy Gets Girl), Susannah Flood, Justin Blanchard (Journey's End), Drew McVety (Sunday in the Park with George), Rachel Shapiro Alderman, J.D. Goldblatt (Iphigenia 2.0), Brian Tyree Henry (The Brothers Size), Scott Thomas, Guy Adkins, Melanky Welsh, Faith Philpot and Herman LeVern Jones' daughter, Bianca Laverne Jones.
